Surgical Services/Operating Rooms (OR)

The Surgical Services/Operating Room at MMSC is located on the main floor.  The OR has nine rooms and one Cesarean Section room in Obstetrics.

2 OR rooms are used for general surgery and OB/GYN
2 OR rooms are used for eye surgery with 1 prep room.
2 OR rooms are used for colonoscopy and upper endoscopy
1 OR room is used for urology procedures
2 OR rooms are equipped to do total joint surgery
and 1 OR room in Women's Care to do C Sections

In addition we have one room for Surgical Holding. Patients come to Surgical Holding from Ambulatory Surgery Center or Medical/Surgical floor for the final preparation before surgery.  Surgeons and Anesthesia will meet the patients here before going to the Surgery room. There are 6 TV/ DVD monitors for the patients' convenience for Surgical Holding.

Immediately following surgery, patient’s are transported to the Post Anesthesia Care unit where skilled RN’s care for patients in the post surgical phase of recovery.  These nurses possess critical knowledge to manage the specific needs of these patients and work in conjunction with the surgical and anesthesia team to assure the patient’s safety and readiness for return to the Ambulatory Surgery Center and then home or for transfer to an inpatient unit.
